这个星期走遍了布拉格，我在旅行时喜欢参观不同国家博物馆，以及到那裏最高的瞭望塔上观看整个城市的风光。在布拉格国家博物馆我最欣喜的是看到二战中空军战士的军事成就及其悲伤的终结。

　　在语文的描述中，我想特别与学生分享的是，博物馆用不同的时态（Tenses）去描述战士在军事的成就及当中的悲哀，The exhibition shows the military achievements and tragic ends of both remembered and the neglected heroes of the Air Force from World War II. It does not forget their often sad fates after the war. Various kinds of discrimination escalated......

　　部分老兵去年才离世，他们把自己在战场上所用的日记簿及随身物品送赠给博物馆展出作公众教学用途。我感触的是，很多空军飞机师在二战中逃难是因为受尽种种歧视，很多受囚禁甚至处死；直至1989年捷克在苏联解体后独立，这些尚在世的英勇飞机师及其家人才获得认可。

　　Previous inclusion in Western units and resistance to the emerging ideology in many cases ended in imprisonment or other forms of persecution...... Only the events of 1989 brought the surviving RAF pilots and their families the deserved recognition.

　　很多学生不明白为何以Present Tense描述历史事件，但也同时用过去式的原因，以上便是一个很好的例子。

　　在英语语法中，historical present是用现在式的动词去描述已发生的历史事件，以现在式描述历史事件可营造出一种即时性的效果，亦可製造出戏剧性的现在效果，可以让过去的事件显得更加生动。

　　Historical present 也可以称dramatic present, historic present 及 narrative present。

　　我鼓励学生去旅行，老土一句“读万卷书不如行万里路”, 我希望学生不会害怕探险。正如Paul Coelho（保罗‧科尔贺，巴西著名作家）says, "if you think adventure is dangerous, try routine, it is lethal."

　　Traveling makes me modest, I see the small dot I occupy in this unfathomably vast universe.
