•Fly in the face of sth (idiom) -

To be the opposite of what most people think is reasonable, sensible, or normal. (悍然不顾,违背)

Examples:  

1.He likes to fly in the face of convention.

2.This is an argument that seems to fly in the face of common sense.

•Deprive sb of sth (phrasal verb) -

To prevent someone from having something, especially something that they need or should have.(剥夺)

Examples:  

1.A lot of these children have been deprived of a normal home life.  

2.They've been deprived of the fuel necessary to heat their homes.

•Complete and utter (idiom) -

Absolute, total.(彻头彻尾的,完全的)

Examples:  

1.Those reports this morning were complete and utter nonsense.  

2.The wedding was a complete and utter disaster.

•Pave the way for sth (idiom) -

to make a later event or development possible by producing the right conditions. (为…铺平道路,为…创造条件)

Examples:  

1.The Supreme Court decision paved the way for further legislation on civil rights.  

2.His analysis of the college market paved the way for their entry into textbook publishing

•See with half an eye (idiom) -

To see or understand (something) easily because it is so evident.(一望便知,一目了然)

Examples:  

1.Anyone can see with half an eye that the plan is doomed to fail.  

2.I could see with half an eye that he was sleeping through the entire concert.
