"American-style democracy" turns out to be the greatest negative example

Right before the eyes of the world, the Capitol Hill of the United States was bitterly reduced to a rioting centre. The "beacon of democracy" collapsed with a loud bang. The riot was quickly stamped out. More than 90 rioters have been arrested, with over 50 of them being prosecuted. U.S. President-elect Joe Biden [Joseph Robinette Biden, Jr] has harshly condemned the rioters as "homegrown terrorists" , and public opinion also supports severe punishment of the rioters. But the shredded fig leaf for "American-style democracy" can never be patched together.

On a cutaway scene, a bunch of thugs had violently forced their way into Hong Kong's Legislative Council (Legco) building on July 1, 2019. The damages they had inflicted to the building were no less, if not more, severe than those done to the U.S. Capitol Hill. Today Hong Kong people still feel heartbroken by reviewing that scene in their mind's eye. What is more outrageous, however, is that at that time U.S. politicians had in unison gilded those Hong Kong rioters as so-called“fighters for democracy" and vowed to "stand by their side" .

While assaulting on their respective legislature buildings in similarly violent manners, those participants in the U.S. assault are treated as thugs and terrorists who would be severely punished by the law, and [President] Donald Trump also faces the fate of being impeached and prosecuted; but, to one's surprise, similar thugs in Hong Kong have been made "heroes" and instigators of riots were even invited to visit the United States as guests of American politicians. This is a naked partisan "double standard." In particular, Nancy Patricia Pelosi, Speaker of the United States House of Representatives, used to describe the riot in Hong Kong "as a beautiful sight to behold, " yet now she slams the riot in her own country "a shameful assault" on democracy. How astonishingly quick her change of face is!

The United States plots and agitates "colour revolutions" everywhere, and also lends its full support to Hong Kong rioters. Nevertheless, "Was it not the case that a creator of a bad precedent left no posterity" ! The U.S. quickly backfires on itself, reaping what it has sown. In wantonly shifting between the words of "protesters" and "thugs" , American politicians fully show their hypocritical nature of standing facts on their heads, calling black white and having no ethical bottom line.

Feng shui takes turns. The U.S. eventually comes to experience the taste of a made-in-USA violent revolution, having to mobilise police and National Guard forces for an iron-fist crackdown. This, as a negative example, proves the correctness of the Central Government"s earlier requirement for the Hong Kong SAR Government to stop violence and curb disorder and restore social order. Following the implementation of the Hong Kong National Security Law, the arrogance of black-clad rioters and advocates for "independence for Hong Kong" has been noticeably curbed, their so-called "street frontline" and "council frontline" both smashed. With the National Security Department of the Hong Kong Police Force drawing the sword again recently, over 50 politicians suspected to have been involved in the illegal "primary election" were detained, to the great joy of the public. This marks a major step forward for Hong Kong to move from chaos to order. Needless to say, there are still a lot of works to be done for Hong Kong to completely bring order out of chaos. One of them is to speed up court trials and severely punish rioters. In this regard, practices in other common law regions are worthy for Hong Kong to learn and follow.

The swift and fierce measures adopted in the U.S. to crack down on the violent "Occupy Capitol Hill" also indirectly clean up the filth and mire smeared onto the Hong Kong police force. When the Hong Kong Legco building was invaded and occupied by the thugs, the police did not take action in fear of resulting in violent clashes. As a matter of fact, during the over-one-year rioting by black-clad thugs, no single protester died during law enforcement by the police. By comparison, at least four "demonstrators" died during the four-hour Capitol Hill riot, among them a female "demonstrator" was shot to death from a short distance as shown by a widely circulating video. Not to mention the large number of casualties inflicted in the "Black Lives Matter" movement. It can be apprehended at a quick glance who on earth metes out "police brutality" and who enforces the law in civilized manners. Someone has mockingly asked the mutual-destruction pursuers whether they prefer to demonstrate in Hong Kong or in the U.S. Such ridicule can be said sharply penetrating.

It is worth mentioning that after realising that he had got himself into serious trouble by agitating the Capitol Hill riot, Trump quickly proclaimed that he "was angry" at the riot and "Those who engaged in the attacks... will be brought to justice." His quick pace to betray his zealous fans is quite dazzling. [From this] won't the "Trump fans" and "U.S. fans" in Hong Kong come to realise that they have been made use of and grieve for their fellow beings?
